Software Development Engineer

Description Leidos is seeking a Software Development Engineer who will be a part of a dynamic team working on the Federal Aviation Administration's En-Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) technology, which is the heart of the Next Generation Air Transportation System and the pulse of the National Airspace System helping to advance our transition from a ground-based system of air traffic control to a satellite-based system of air traffic management.
ERAM is vital to the future of air navigation, providing the foundational platform required for FAA to enable NextGen solutions, via modernization programs such as System Wide Information Management, Data Communications, and Automatic Dependent Surveillance- Broadcast.
ERAM will provide benefits for users and the flying public by increasing air traffic flow.
Functions Include:
Real-Time Programming on High Availability Systems Multi-threaded programming Low Level Operating Systems Customization (RedHat, AIX) Low level communication software (TCP-IP, UDP, SCTP) System Maintenance Concepts Front and Backend LEAF architecture and design Need to present Modernized Interfaces at international trade shows and communicate to international customers.
Software Development Engineer
Responsibilities:
Detailed knowledge of Linux OS and OS concepts desirable.
Developing and maintaining the FAA air traffic control software (primarily Ada95/C++) on a UNIX/Linux platform.
There are a number of support/maintenance functions that utilize PERL/PYTHON.
Coordinate Solutions with Systems Engineering Coordinate the development of new capabilities and upgrade to common services provided the applications via APIs.
LEAF support on various FAA centric programs, demos and opportunities as needed Communicate across team to complete assigned projects Guide and assist team members in related engineer work Travel up to 25% Basic
Qualifications:
Requires Bachelors of Science degree (Computer Science or Computer Engineering Degree) and 4
years of prior relevant experience or Master's with 2
years of prior relevant experience.
US Citizenship Required Candidate must be able to obtain an SF-85P Public Trust clearance from the FAA customer.
Experience with Cloud, ReactJs or similar, and Microservice Passionate about creating and designing modern interfaces for high volume applications Interested in the latest UI/UX design trends and incorporating new technologies and libraries into Air Traffic Management Interfaces Demonstrated Software Development Skills/Capabilities Excellent Verbal and Communication Skills Demonstrated ability to debug and solve problems A Strong desire to learn Work Experience in a Technical organization performing Software Engineering Tasks Leadership Skills & Experience TSFAA Pay Range:
Pay Range $78,000.
00 - $141,000.
