Lab Technicians are responsible for analyzing plant samples, record accurate results in the lab system, and report results to production areas in a timely manner. The position is a rotating 12 hour day/night shift to include weekends and could be alone in the laboratory during nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to work independently and effectively organize and prioritize highly technical tasks under pressure. This position will report directly to the Laboratory Manager. How You Will Make an Impact:
Maintain familiarity and comply with all safety, health, and environmental requirements and guidelines. Maintain familiarity with all procedures and equipment used for testing raw materials, in-process samples, finished products and wastewater samples. Prioritize samples as per plant requirements. Set up equipment according to instructions or test method procedures. Perform routine test procedures including run controls, standards, perform calibrations and participate in gage testing of analytical methods. Recognize and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform repairs when possible. Support and adhere to activities related to conformance with SI Group's Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) and associated policies, standards, and regulatory compliance as well as the achievement of Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) objectives and targets. Contribute with overtime for vacation and absentee coverage. Other tasks as assigned. Required Skills or Abilities:
Associates or Technical Degree General knowledge of chemical laboratory equipment and usage. General knowledge of personal computer and office software. Must understand and apply scientific principles with an awareness of detail and accuracy. Ability to do college algebra. Good organizational skills. Good communicator, both written and oral. A minimum of an associate degree or equivalent coursework in physical or natural sciences with at least two semesters of chemistry courseworkand laboratory AND minimum of one year working full time in a chemical laboratory and the ability to do college level algebra.#J-18808-Ljbffr Recommended Skills Algebra Communication Coordinating Management Systems Office Suite Problem Solving Apply to this job.
